Current Situation

Uzbekistan's amusement and entertainment scene has been growing fast. Between January and April 2025 alone, the sports, entertainment, and recreation service sector hit 1,235.7 billion soums — an 18.6% jump from the same period last year. Over the past five years, the number of children's amusement parks has also grown by about 20%. So yeah, people here want fun experiences.

That said, most of what exists today is pretty traditional — standard swings, merry-go-rounds, simple slides. There's Tashkentland and Aqualand, which have been around since the early 2000s. What's Coming?

Big things are on the horizon. A massive integrated resort is planned for Tashkent — 28 hectares, over $250 million investment. It includes a 20-hectare water park with over 20 rides inspired by Uzbek stories and nature. Phase one should open in 2027. Also, a huge oceanarium — Central Asia's largest — is planned for New Tashkent, alongside shopping centers and a hotel.

And get this: Uzbekistan has been talking with Disney about possibly building a theme park similar to Disneyland. No official green light yet, but they've discussed opening a Disney representative office in Central Asia and even launching Uzbek-language children's content. That would be massive.

The government is serious about tourism. They've set aside $150 million to develop year-round resort zones across four regions, and they're offering 5,000 hectares of land for free for hotel construction. Plus, creative economy is supposed to hit 5% of GDP by 2030.
